Green Door Garden & Gifts Climbers

Climbers

Climbing plants bring another dimension and ambience to the garden. They are also used for such purposes as covering fences or walls, or simply over frames for effect. Some climbers are also very effective ground cover plants.

As with other plants, there are a range of climbers suited to different soils and climates, evergreen and deciduous, with spectacular flowers or foliage.

The range of climbers includes

  • Vigorous strong growers that will totally cover a large shed if left un- checked. Only one plant is normally required.
  • Medium vigour climbers, which includes most.
  • Stem clinging climbers – where the stems root into the support or commonly in nature – a tree or host plant, usually overpowering it over time eg. Ivy, NZ Rata.
