Anemones
Site Requirements
-Plant in full sun
-Well drained, moderately rich soil
-Improve soils with Compost before planting
-Tui Bulb food or Tui General Garden Fertiliser should be added when preparing soil
-Liquid fertiliser such as ican Fast Food should be applied as growth appears, and when coming into flower
Tip - before planting out, soak the tubers in water for a few hours to plump up.
Plant tubers 15-30cm apart, 5cm deep
-Can be grown in pots, containers – use Daltons Bulb Mix.
Plant in February, March and April to ensure succession of blooms over several months.

Control – Do not over-water and make sure soil is free draining.
Ranunculus
Site Requirements
-Plant in full sun
-Good drainage is essential
-Improve soil drainage by raising beds or addition of coarse sand or gypsum to existing garden beds
-Add Compost and Tui Bulb Food to soil prior to planting
-As foliage comes through soil, and as flower buds form, feed regularly with a liquid food such as ican Fast Food
Tip - before planting out, soak the corms in water for a few hours to plump up.
-Plant the corm with the claws facing down, 5cm deep and 15cm apart
-Plant in groups for best effect, or if in rows, plant 3-4 corms wide
-Start planting Jan through to May to provide a succession of flowers
-Lift corms once foliage turns yellow and store in a dry airy place until next season
-Can be grown in pots and containers, using Daltons Bulb Mix
Pests and Diseases
No major problems – however, corms will rot or give poor germination if soil does not drain freely and remains water logged. Under wet conditions flowers will be small and less prolific.
