March Flower Garden  

· Start planting spring flowering bulbs – ranunculus, anemones, freesias, gladioli, daffodils & hyacinths.

· Plant flowering annual seedlings pansies, primula, stock, snapdragons and many more.

· Protect all seedlings from slugs and snails with Quash.

· Use Tui Hydrangea Blue on blue hydrangeas prior to pruning.

· Prepare Autumn flower beds prior to planting with ican premium Compost and a dressing of ican General Fertiliser.

· Spray roses with Grosafe Enspray Oil & Free Flo Copper to control pests and diseases.  To give them a “pick-me-up add in Grosafe Biopower Seaweed flakes – all three products will kick your roses back into blooming asap.

· Continue dead heading plants to keep them flowering.

· Feed all roses with Novatec or ican Rose Fertiliser.

· Spray Grosafe Freeflo Copper to control fungal disease on ornamentals, fruit and vegetables.

· Use ican Fast Food to encourage earlier and better flowering of seedlings.

· Trim hedges to allow a little growth before winter sets in.

· March/April is a good month for rejuvenating existing lawns.  Use Grosafe Lawnguard & Hydrocotyle Killer to kill lawn weeds ready for sowing new lawn seed.

· Plan Winter rose planting and place your orders now for new seasons roses.

March Edible Garden

· Plant out young plants of cabbages, cauliflowers, leeks, broccoli, onions, silverbeet and carrots.

· Continue with plantings of carrots, lettuce, beetroot etc.

· Protect all seedlings from slugs and snails with Quash.

· If growing pumpkins or squash, keep vines well fed with ican Fast Food until ready for harvesting.

· Try planting kale as a winter alternative to cabbage, it’s so easy to grow and great in stir-fry.

· Any areas of vege garden not in use plant out with green manure crops such as Blue Lupins and Mustard. These will be dug in later to enrich the soil for spring and summer crops.

· Fertilise citrus with Novatec – sustained release for 4 months so your plants receive a balanced and even spread of all essential nutrients.

· Autumn harvesting of early season fruits begins. Prune trees after harvesting and spray with Grosafe Freeflo Copper to prevent disease.

· Prevent white butterfly caterpillar with Beat-a-Bug or spray with Mavrik to control and eradicate existing.

· If vege seedlings are suffering from Whitefly spray with Grosafe Enspray Oil.
