October Flower Garden  

· Fertilise roses with Novatec for an instant boost of nutrients and continued feeding for 4 months.  Check for aphids on buds – spray with Mavrik.

· Prune spring flowering shrubs after flowering. Deadhead rhododendrons as they finish flowering.

· Feed acid loving plants such as camellias, azaleas and rhododendrons with ican Acid Fertiliser once they have finished flowering.

· Feed early spring flower seedlings in pots with ican Fast Food to prolong blooms.

· Spray roses - combine Grosafe Enspray Oil, Free Flo Copper and Biopower Seaweed Flake for pests, disease & liquid feed.

· Plant out seedlings of new seasons flowering annuals.

· Feed flowering shrubs with ican General Fertiliser.

· Prepare and sow new lawns and kill any lawn weeds with Yates Turfix for broad leaf or Grosafe Hydrocotle Killer for creeping weeds – oxalis, clover etc. Prickles with Grosafe Prickle Weedkiller.

· Fertilise lawns with Tui Lawn Fertiliser.

October Edible Garden

· Plant out seedlings of broccoli, beetroot, cabbages, capsicum, carrots, cauliflowers, cucumber, lettuce, kumara, mustard, tomatoes, sweetcorn, melons, onions, peas, parsnip, radish, spinach, zucchini and silverbeet. 

· Protect frost tender vege with frost cloth.

· Stake tomatoes at planting time to prevent damaging roots at a later date and feed with ican Fast Food.

· Plant passionfruit, rhubarb and tamarillos.

· Sprout and plant seed potatoes now.

· Feed strawberries with Tui Strawberry Food and spray with Grosafe Freeflo Copper to prevent fungus disease.

· Feed all fruit trees with Novatec fertiliser.

· Protect young seedlings from slugs and snails with Slug Slam or Quash if you have pets.
