Green Cover Crops
If you aren't planning on using your vege garden over the winter, have a bare patch of garden or a new garden bed not yet ready for planting... try growing a green manure cover crop in the meantime.
It is a wonderful organic way to restore and rest your soil, improve soil structure, suppress weeds, replenish nutrient levels and break disease cycles. We have Mustard, Lupins and mixed seed crops available in store now - this video takes you through the benefits of each.

Daffodil Bulbs in store!
It’s time to start thinking ahead to Spring… what would you like to see in your garden? Our Spring Bulbs are in store now including daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, freesias and more.
This gorges variety - Suncatcher - is exclusive in HB to us. Double yellow petals with a frilly apricot centre and more frills in between the petals, just gorgeous!
Peony tubers
Large and luscious, the lovely Peony is hard not to like! They are surprisingly hardy and easy to care for, and do especially well in our Hawkes Bay climate! Beautiful varieties and healthy large tubers in store now. Plant in full sun with Ican Potato Food to encourage healthy tuber growth and beautiful full blooms.
New Season Citrus
Citrus trees are a garden staple and so easy to grow given a little care. From limes to make delicious drinks and lemons for cooking and baking, to grapefruit and oranges for the perfect breakfast. We’ve a range of sizes too - from fabulous instant grade to smaller sizes, depending on your budget. Citrus trees also make a wonderful gift.

Fruit Trees - stone + pip
We’ve had a lovely large delivery of stone, pip and citrus fruit trees recently. There is nothing quite like homegrown produce - be that lemons for your GnT, peaches for bottling or apples for the lunch box! They just taste better when they’re homegrown!

A GD favourite - Hydrangea Limelight
The gorgeous hydrangea with pale lime, cone-shaped flowers that smother the bush over summer. They antique to a pink and then burgundy colour with age
These beauties will grow up to 1.8m if left untrimmed and unlike most hydrangeas, will thrive in full sun as long as they get regular watering. We have a gorgeous one in our carpark garden - just budding up, normally in full flower in January.
Long lasting as a fresh cut flower or in a dried arrangement.
Lavender 'White Sensation'
A ‘sensational’ variety!
Clear white wings over a pale grey-green bract, just beautiful! A fabulous addition to a green and white garden and the bees will thank you for it too!
Get the water where is it needed most!
Water smarter with a weeper hose at your place. Wetta Weeper hoses direct the water where it is needed - in the ground! Used on low pressure, the weeper hose will soak in and down, creating a strip approx 40cm wide. Fantastic along hedge lines and over gardens. Lay it under mulch, or under the soil to prevent moisture loss.
These hoses also help keep your plants free of disease as the water is distributed straight into the soil and not over the leaves like a sprinkler or hose (damp/wet leaves are the perfect breeding ground for disease).

Grandessa Daisy
If long lasting colour and an abundance of flowers in full sun is what you’re after, then the Grandessa Daisiy is the perfect plant. They are always a Green Door favourite year after year. Grandessa Daisies have a large and vigorous habit, growing to 40-60cm, and hundreds of bright, daisy-like flowers. Well suited to large pots.

Keep your pots and containers from drying out and soil becoming hydrophobic (when the potting mix repels the water rather than soaks it up). SaturAid Granular Soil Wetter helps water distribute evenly, down to the root zone. It helps stop wasteful water run off and dry spots. Deeper root systems means healthier plants. Great for gardens, pots and lawns and makes the most of our precious water.

Armeria Brutus - a beauty!
‘Brutus’ is an appropriate name for this 'Thrift' as the plants are super large, super strong and produces tall stems of pure white blooms.

Maples - the 'Queen' of spring

Michelia’s are in! A Green Door garden favourite - and for good reason. Dense evergreen foliage with glossy deep green leaves and fuzzy brown buds that open to masses of stunning flowers. A fantastic option for hedging, screening or as a backdrop to herbaceous garden planting and can be clipped/shaped appropriately or left as a loose large shrubs. A great number of varieties and colours in store - all coming into bloom now!
New season Lavender in store!
Lavender - the first of the season are in! Lavender Major, which is also the first to flower has just arrived in store. Major flower abundantly and does not disappoint with a sea of rich dark purple flowers and little mauve 'ears' atop silvery green foliage. Fabulous for the bees!

Our hellebore tables are looking simply stunning at the moment with an abundance of blooms in various shades. These perennials are a wonderful way to brighten up those shady winter spots. With dark luscious leaves and 'rose-like' flowers, these plants look most impressive when planted in big drifts. Hellebores love rich, free draining soil so be sure to plant with some good quality compost. Add lime to the soil when planting for the happiest hellebores.

New season Camellias are in store now! We have some lovely varieties in at the moment - glossy leaves, an abundance of buds and blooms in different colour ways. They make a wonderful hedge, screen or garden bed feature and are the perfect ‘bones’ for any garden.

Scaevola - a fabulous spiller and filler
Scaevola with dainty fan shaped flowers and bright yellow-white throats - a fabulous addition to pots or ground cover. Gorgeous trailing habit and it flowers for months and months.
Hydrangea Tuxedo
A new release with big, bold crimson red/pink flowers that cover the plant. However the foliage is the main point of difference deep purple/black flushed leaves make anyone do a double-take… which means these hydrangeas look brilliant in the garden even when they’re not in full flower.
Hostas are new in! Perfect under trees or along the south side of the house, Hostas bold leaves will leave a lasting impression.
Available in a range of foliage colour and leaf sizes, they look fab in the garden or in a pot. Combine different varieties to create a living tapestry of textures and colour.

Lavender - a myriad of varieties
The number of varieties of Lavender we have in store is increasing by the week! Truly something for every garden. Try English Lavender ‘Hidcote’ for a more traditional look, or for early flowering look to Lavender Major, for vibrant and different colours - Lavender Pink Princess or Lavender Love Heart are the ones to choose. Or for something quite different - Meerlo has cream and green variegated foliage with pale blue blooms which contrast beautifully.
Old fashioned favourites
We have a few old fashioned favourites in store at the moment including Soloman’s Seal, The Japanese Painted Fern, Lang Trees, and Lily of the Valley… hard to come by and so worthy of a spot in the garden!
Bubblegum Petunias
The first of the Bubblegum petunias in store now! Our ever-admired hanging baskets are filled with our favourite Bubblegum Petunias which are the first to flower and flower prolifically throughout the summer. They are very hardy and do fabulously well in pots or hanging baskets for endless summer colour.
Delphiniums are here!
Delphiniums are now in store in a gorgeous array of blue, purple and white hues. These perennials are a great addition to the garden adding height and colour. They are reliable performers, hardy and frost-tolerant. Best situated in full sun or dappled shade. We have single pots and seedling punnets available.
Lavender Major
The classic! It is one of the first to flower each year and does not disappoint with an abundance of rich dark purple flowers with little mauve 'ears'.
Lavender is a fantastic addition to your garden. Not only does it attract bees, but it flowers from spring through to autumn and brings lovely fragrance to the garden too! Lavender grows best in full sun with well drained soil.
Magnificent Magnolias
Magnolias are one of the best bits about spring! The shapely trees produce bountiful beautiful blossoms in a range of shapes and shades with varying sizes of tree - something to suit every garden. The blooms are striking against the bare branches, and fuzzy buds look lovely through winter too!

Our new season Camellias have just arrived in store and look wonderful and healthy (they come from a family who have been growing Camellia for decades - always the biggest and best with the most flower set). We have some lovely varieties - glossy leaves, an abundance of buds and blooms in different colour ways. They make a wonderful hedge, screen or garden bed feature.
Heavenly Hydrangeas
There’s not a lot that beats a hydrangea shrub laden with bright and beautiful blooms. We have a large collection of varieties, bloom shapes and colours in store - including pink, white and blue colours and the stunning ‘Oakleaf’ varieties (pictured). They look great planted en-masse as a hydrangea 'hedge' or dotted through your herbaceous boarders. Variety dependant they grow anywhere from 75cm x 75cm up to 1.5m x 1.5m.
Stunning Salvias for sunny spots
Salvias are in full flower and attracting those bees with masses of gorgeous purple and blue flowers. They need good drainage and full sun (some light shade is ok). Flowering non-stop they are a great addition to the flower garden with some shorter varieties perfect for pots or the front of a border and taller varieties fabulous for creating interest and colour at the back of a border.
A gorgeous range of colours and flower shapes too - from a true blue colour, through to purple and even deep red.
Shade-loving Hostas
Perfect under trees or along the south side of the house, Hostas bold leaves will leave a lasting impression.

With bright showy blooms and lush green leaves Hisbiscus make a fun and fabulous addition to the garden. Best planted in a sheltered and warm position.
Geraniums
Geraniums are hardy, heat-lovers that don't mind full sun - which is why they're prolifically found in pots throughout the cobblestone streets of Italy. We've got a great range of bright colours in store at the moment and they're known to keep on giving - from summer through till autumn, they flower and flower and flower. Unbeatable colour, easy-care and hardy, great in pots on the deck, in sheltered garden positions in the garden or in baskets on a balcony.
New Lightweight Pots in store
Large and small, square or rectangular, black or white...we’re fully stocked with lightweight pots in all forms! These are minimalist and modern, and beautiful quality. Fill them with shapely shrubs or flowering annuals, perfect at the back door or on your patio.
Sweet smelling Daphne
Daphne truly is one of those plants whose incredible scent hits you from a mile away! They are a lovely addition to the garden; glossy green leaves, clusters of white or pink flowers and a sweet fragrance is just what the garden needs when most other plants have gone to sleep!
We have both pink and white varieties available and 2 different sizes in store. They are covered in buds set to open in the coming weeks.
Gaura - Dwarf Soda Pop
With their butterfly-like, abundant flowers that flutter in the wind and fresh green foliage, Gaura are a firm garden favourite. More often that not standard Gaura are a little too big for smaller gardens or pots, so this dwarf variety is just perfect - it grows to only 40cm in height by 30cm width. Best situated in full sun - they work well in a sunny garden border, pots or even hanging baskets! Just ensure they aren't left to dry out. Once established they need little care but a small prune back in winter will help.
Antique Terracotta Pots
A new drop of the ever-popular Antique Terracotta pots is in store now - with a large range of shapes and sizes. Whatever your pot project these will certainly make an instant impact. We also have a great selection of glazed pots in store too.
SunPatiens
For full-on colour choose SunPatiens - they are fantastically bright and come in a range of eye-catching colours. They have a compact nature and are extremely long flowering even in the heat - great summer plants!. SunPatiens work well in pots or in the garden and can take anything from shade to full sun.
Topiary
Topiaries are a fantastic way of adding instant impact and a 'mature garden' feel to your garden. They're great as screening for privacy or for adding shape and structure to your pots and beds. We have topiary in everything from Buxus to Bay tress, Gardenia to Laurel, Michelias to Roses and Maples to Olives. Truly something for everyone.
Some make incredible statement pieces while other do a great job of screening neighbours peering over the fence. We have by FAR the best variety in Hawkes Bay.
Calibrachoa
This gorgeous perennial looks a little like a miniature petunia with contrasting colour combinations. It has a trailing habit - they are gorgeous spilling over pots or embankments. Calibrachoa’s provide gorgeous long-lasting colour during the warmer months, working well in pots, hanging baskets or garden beds. We have a superb variety of colour shades available, everything from hot pink to to white and yellowy-orange…. for whatever your garden theme be!
Fuchsia Varieties
We’ve got a really gorgeous range of Fuchsia’s in at the moment - with some stunning colour; light and dark pinks, oranges, purples and whites.
Fuchsia’s flower from October to May and beyond - making them a great addition to the garden. They are easy-care and versatile, great in both part shade or sun. Fabulous in pots or the garden

Heritage daffodil ‘Von Sion'
This Heritage bulb is charming, tough, long lasting, and multiplies well each season. It is over 400 years old and can sometimes be found in the gardens of old settlers. It is definitely a daffodil worth treasuring.The best bit is its ever-evolving colour and form. With every new spring, the bulbs produce some quite different blooms - shaggy powderpuff centres, flecks of green, curly bursts of unusual petals; you’ll just have to plant some to see! Exclusive in Hawkes Bay to Green Door.
Large grade proteas
If you love to fill your home with flowers from your garden, a protea is an excellent plant to have in your garden. Stunning as cut flowers, they are long lasting in a vase and make a real statement!
Likewise they make a stunning feature in the garden covered in flowers.
We can only get this large grade once a year and once they are gone, they’re gone!
These instant grade proteas are sure to impress.
Monstera Monkey Mask
An exciting new addition to our indoor plant selection! Slightly rippled, rich green leaves with the signature ‘monstera’ holes. And a cute name! If given a pole the leaves will climb, otherwise they’ll trail and look great in a hanging basket. Best situated in bright light - but no direct sunlight, and kept lightly moist.
Philodendron Birkin
We’re thrilled to have just received an order of the lovely Philodendron Birkin which are fairly new to NZ! With beautiful, glossy leaves and variegated, stripe-like colouring, it does a great job of purifying the air. They prefer warm, moist conditions, so your bathroom or kitchen would be perfect.
Liriope Majestic
Originally imported into NZ by Gillian and Phil, Liriope majestic has beautiful big bold flowers on a healthy good sized clump of foliage. It is a great plant for dry shady spots. Exclusive in Hawkes Bay to Green Door. Stunning plants and look at the size of these flower heads!
